Thomas Grubbs woke up on a Monday, checked the group chat and felt it in his stomach. “Oh, I’m actually trapped,” he said. “Like, I can’t leave.” His 50-foot houseboat floats in an Allegheny River marina that’s feeling pinched by a railroad and the water authority.

Jason is a photojournalism intern for the summer at the Public Source. Currently studying photography at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts and journalism at NYU's Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute, he has served in both editor and reporter/photographer roles for Washington Square News, NYU's college newspaper. He most recently worked for Magnum Photos as an archives intern in their New York office prior to the Public Source.
