Sara Innamorato, the fourth-ever Allegheny County executive, was sworn into office on Jan. 2, 2024, replacing Rich Fitzgerald. In her role, considered the most powerful in local government in the region, Innamorato will make decisions about property tax assessments, environmental issues, the Allegheny County Jail, juvenile detention and policing, among other matters.
