PublicSource, in collaboration with 90.5 WESA, examined the ongoing tragedy of unsolved homicides in Pittsburgh and the disparate impact on the city’s black community. Half of the city’s homicides went unsolved from 2010 through 2015.
A staggering 97 percent of unsolved murders had a black victim. Our reporting includes interviews with victims’ families, law enforcement and community leaders.
We also examined years of police and court records to create a database to show when cases result in an arrest and court conviction – and how often the system fails.
